It takes a certain kind of guts to hire a guy to come sing showtunes on Super Bowl Sunday. In Alabama. I’m immensely grateful that Robert and Luz Ladrillono are the kind of people who would do that. Randy, Gary and I had a fantastic time tonight at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, performing with the amazingly talented cast of last summer’s production of 13 here. A fun night, a fun show, and who cares about hockey anyway?

The concert was truly amazing! Thank you for so many things–for writing and performing such insightful and intelligent music, for investing your time and effort with these kids, and most of all for sharing your gift with our community. Hope to see you back here soon!
I’m pretty sure I was speechless for quite some time after the show. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Huntsvegas; we certainly enjoyed having you here. 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration.
We traveled 10 hours to catch the Huntsville, AL concert. It was a thrilling concert and took all the willpower I have to NOT sing along. The workshop was a HUGE thrill for me! I am a community theatre director (with 5 musicals in the mix) and was in theatrical-orgasmic-joy-bliss to be able to eavesdrop on a master class. I’m betting a few of them will “shout out” to you as they receive their Tonys.
Thank you JRB, Randy Landau and Gary Sieger for coming out and sharing your wonderful gift. The kids will remember this for years to come. Safe travels and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Dude. DOOOOOOOD. You rocked so hard and it was awesome. PLEASE come back soon and bring your lovely bride with you!
Thanks for being so gracious with your time for the workshop and to everyone who stayed after your concert. Educational AND entertaining! Does it get much better than that?
We had a great time and were very glad you enjoyed your visit. Hope you can make it back ’round these parts soon. Now if only my DVR had functioned correctly, I could’ve enjoyed that hockey game, too. 🙂
Mr. Brown,
Thank you for selecting me for the workshop that afternoon. After I sang, “If I Didn’t Believe in You” you asked, “What would you like to do or work on to make it better for you?” To be honest, working with you on a more regular basis would certainly do the trick for me. I wish I had said that then…
I do have a question for you related to my performance that afternoon if you wouldn’t mind me contacting you to talk about it. My website and e-mail are listed if you’d like to contact me. I’m not sure how to reach you otherwise.
I hope you have a wonderful time “down under.”
Thanks again,
Jay
[FROM JRB: Hey Jay! You did a great job at the workshop. You can always email me by writing to askjrb [at] jasonrobertbrown.com.]
I have rewritten this about a half a dozen times to try to convey my exact sentiments regarding your performance and workshop in Huntsville last weekend and have concluded that the best thing to say is simply: THANK YOU!
(p.s. I don’t know what has given you such marvelous insight to writing for women but your characters resonate completely. Thanks for giving us some completely dimensional characters to work on. I love pieces that never seem truly “finished” and your characters are that to me. I can always find new things in them and nuance that I didn’t before! They are a joy to sing and play with.)
