JRB Talkbacks at 13 October 21-23!

10/14/08

Hey y’all! You remember last week when I told you we needed to get people into the theater NOW, so we were offering $25 tickets? (If you don’t, click here for details.) Well, we’ve gotten an unbelievable response, but we’re still trying to make those weeknight shows a little fuller, so I offered to do a special event for three performances next week – and it still only costs $25 a ticket! After the 7 pm performances on October 21, 22, and 23, I’ll take the stage of the Jacobs Theatre with a couple of the amazing cast members, ourRead More »

See “13” for just $25 through November 3!

10/10/08

Hello, my wonderful fans and friends. You may have heard that my newest show, “13”, opened this week. We got a lot of wonderful reviews from the press, the audiences are really loving the show every night, and the cast is absolutely knocking it out of the park every single performance. I am as proud of “13” as I am of anything I have ever done in my entire career. The Bar Mitzvah boy to be is about to celebrate turning 13 — which turns out to be the unluckiest number of all: His newly minted Manhattan manhood has becomeRead More »

But until now the tween market has largely been neglected, despite the mega-success of such musical acts as Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. The musical “13,” which opened Sunday at the Jacobs, is an attempt to rectify that situation, and because the stage version of “High School Musical” is taking its sweet time getting here, “13”Read More »

Review: Musical Mazel Tov for Heartland Teens (NY Post, 10/6/08)

10/6/08

Musical Mazel Tov For Heartland Teens By BARBARA HOFFMAN New York Post, October 6, 2008 RATING: 3 out of 4 stars I can’t remember the last Broadway musical with a big Torah number. Then again, I can’t re member a leading man six years shy of legal drinking age. All that (and more) adds up to “13,” the disarmingly charming new musical that opened last night. With a raw, rousing score by Jason Robert Brown sung by a cast of 13- to 17-year-olds, it’s Sondheim for MySpacers – the perfect show for those too old for Disney, too young forRead More »
