That’s How Texas Was Born
A man broke the heart of a lady
The lady was sad and forlorn
So she called on her son to get his big shotgun
And that’s how Texas was born!
The son called seven of his brothers
To hunt down the man one fine morn,
But the man was not alone –
He had eight brothers of his own,
And that’s how Texas was born!
So it grew, and it grew, and soon the population knew
They had begotten something rotten, it was clear.
Soon every priest and mathematician
Had a magnum and a mission.
Wastes a lot of ammunition,
But that’s how we like it here!
So when a man breaks the heart of a lady,
What the hell! ring the bell, sound the horn!
That’s what made us great
In the lone star state,
And that’s how Texas was born!
(instrumental solos)
So when a man breaks the heart of a lady,
What the hell! ring the bell, sound the horn!
That’s what made us great
In the Lone Star state,
And that’s how Texas…
That’s how Texas was born!
