I had been warned that the crowd at the early show was likely to be kind of subdued. Monday night in Pittsburgh, mostly subscribers, older folks, nothing bad but good to know in advance. To our surprise, that was definitely not the case. We did two sold-out shows for festive, rowdy Pittsburgh audiences and we can’t wait to come back for more, as long as no one makes us eat those terrifying Primanti’s sandwiches.

Although I’ve been playing with Todd and Randy for decades now, these were the first concerts we ever did as just a trio, and it was an exciting musical challenge and also a joyful journey of discovery.

I often expend a certain amount of effort into making sure the set lists really cover as many of my shows and albums as possible, but for this show, I decided to let the instrumentation guide me, just to pick the songs that seemed like they’d be the most fun with this particular trio. But fear not, old and new fans, every concert is different and I promise some of the hits will be back!

Thanks to everyone at the Greer Cabaret Theater and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, especially Bob Bollman on lights and sound. The concert hall was a pleasure to play in, with a great piano and an excellent sound system. And I love a sassy crowd!
