Sheridan College’s Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP) and Michael Rubinoff, its Producing Artistic Director, are proud to present an evening with three-time Tony Award-winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown. Brown will play at the historic Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto on April 27.
For this unique performance, he’ll be joined by his band and special guests, Sheridan alumna Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Broadway) and Tony Award nominee, Jenn Colella (Come From Away, original cast) incorporating an eclectic mix of material from throughout his acclaimed career, along with works from his new album “How We React and How We Recover.”
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the CMTP and the development of new musicals.
Brown is the renowned composer and lyricist of musicals such as Songs for a New World (1995), Parade (1998), The Last Five Years (2002), 13 (2008), The Bridges of Madison County (2013) and Honeymoon In Vegas (2014).
“Jason Robert Brown is recognized as one of the world’s leading composer/lyricists. We are in the midst of a renaissance in the Canadian music theatre community, and Jason’s work has been a huge inspiration to me and Canadian writers and composers,” said Rubinoff. “This will be a very special celebration of contemporary musical theatre, and a must-see event for musical theatre lovers.”
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Toronto and to be joined by Chilina Kennedy and Jenn Colella,” said Brown. “It’s particularly meaningful that proceeds from the event will benefit the development of new musicals, contributing to Canada’s vibrant musical theatre community.”
An Evening With Jason Robert Brown will take place on April 27 at the Winter Garden Theatre. Tickets are now available at ticketmaster.ca and range from $36 to $118 (excluding fees).
