By Michael Gioia, Andrew Gans
31 Mar 2015
The new musical Honeymoon in Vegas, based on the 1992 Castle Rock Entertainment film of the same name, will play its final performance at Broadway’s Nederlander Theater April 5, the show’s producers announced March 31.
The musical was praised by critics, but failed to catch on at the box office. The production grossed $371,576.00 for the week ending March 29.
Those who have purchased tickets to a performance after April 5 through Ticketmaster will automatically receive credit to their accounts for their refunded tickets. All others should contact their initial point of purchase to inquire about receiving a refund for their tickets.
Following an engagement at New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse in the fall of 2013, Honeymoon opened Jan. 15, following previews that began Nov. 18, 2014.
The cast is led by Tony nominee Rob McClure, Brynn O’Malley and Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Tony Danza with David Josefsberg, Tony Award nominee Nancy Opel and Matthew Saldivar. The Broadway premiere reunites all six principal actors who appeared in the world premiere at Paper Mill.

Hey Jason. I got to see this last night and really enjoyed the music and particularly the bold statement made on preserving broadway ochestras in the theater. I have 2 quick questions (1) With the Tony deadline so close how much does that affect (if any) the desicion of a show closing prematurely due to the sheer lack of real estate available on Broadway? I ask this after reading the New York Times article today on how the Tonys saved Gentlemans Guide. (2) As a composer how much are you informed of such a desicion by the producers and do you have any input at all on this? Its crazy, the audience was electric last night and I couldn’t help but share the feeling that this was a premature (although Im not in charge of your shows budget) closing given the proximity of a potential Tony boost. What are your thoughts? Nice onstage cameo by the way on piano and ukelele.
